My First Art Party!

On Friday evening I held my first Heavenly Art Party!

I have been thinking of doing this for a while and along with planning the event, getting invites printed and pieces of art made, I also had to figure out how to display my items once at a party. After a lot of thinking and hunting, I finally located a cute vintage suitcase, (which I have blogged about earlier this year,) and also came across an old French wooden crate at a Vintage fair. I painted up the crate, and changed the fabric inside the suitcase, but I still needed some extra display storage for some of my larger pieces. That's when our lovely friend John came into the picture! I knew he was good at DIY, and so I approached him to see if he could help. And help he did! Now I have a beautifully crafted display board to house the larger paintings, complete with handle, hooks and stoppers for the bottom to stop it wobbling! And it is wonderful! Just what I needed! Thank you so much, John!!

My lovely friend Rachel was the host for my first party, and I put on an evening of games and a display of my art work for sale.
I arrived early to set up my display and was very thankful that I had done a dummy run prior to the party! It made it so much easier, knowing roughly where everything was going to go, rather than me trying to figure out on the night which pieces worked best where! After a bit of chatting, Rachel introduced me and I set about explaining the games we were about to play! Everyone seemed to enjoy this part of the evening, and all got involved heartily with the games! I then invited them to have a look at my work as the last part of the evening.

Even though it was my first event, the evening went really well and everyone enjoyed themselves, which was great. I will have to work on my selling skills a bit for my next party, but am really happy that  the night was a success. Here's a few pictures of my display from the night: (please excuse the colour-it is not quite right, as it was quite dark in the actual room at the time.)

Birthday sunflowers!

It was my birthday recently, and apart from being totally spoilt rotten, I received a bunch of one of my favorite flowers from my friend, Jo. Her parting comment on presenting me with the bloom was that drawing them was a necessity! All in jest, I know but I did agree! They were asking to be sketched!
So out came the pencils and sketch away I did!
Here is the finished journal page of these beauties!
I also used my simple photo editing software app on my phone to adjust the colour a bit and was amazed art the difference each filter made! (just gutted that I can't seem to transfer them all to my blog!)

These beautiful flowers really are a ray of sunshine! Especially on this grey and rainy day!

New Chapter!

The kids have started back at school and  that includes my youngest! He's only doing half days at the mo but soon he will be in full time! Doesn't time fly! It hardly seems 5 minutes since he was a tiny bundle of blue in my arms! And now...a big boy going to primary school!

So now it's the time for me to open the next chapter of the book, so to speak!! I have decided to try a variety of avenues with my art work, including licencing my work, to running workshops and selling my art. One of the ideas I will be trying first is selling my work in people's homes-kinda like a Tupperware party but with my art pieces~ my Heavenly Art Parties!  So I have been busy with the details and already have my first party booked with a friend for mid November! Excited!

I have been on the lookout for a vintage style suitcase as part of my display storage for the parties and came across this beauty at a vintage shop this morning! It's perfect! And a very reasonable price too! It all seems to be coming together nicely!
Hope my lovely readers are having a great week, and are enjoying the beginning of the autumn season!
Well, til next time!

School's out!

The school holidays are now upon us, and I have resigned myself to 6 weeks with very little art being done-that way I am hoping I will be less frustrated as I'm not expecting to have time to do much anyway. So far though, surprisingly, I have been able to sneak away a few times this week and get out my sketchbook for a bit of doodling here and there! A lovely bit of 'me time' in amidst the time with three kids!
Here's to a great summer break!

Doodling fun!

Hi all! Long time no natter! Sorry I have been so quiet, just had a lot going on round here, and to be honest, a bit of artist's block!
So I have now decided to go back to basics and try my hand at some good old doodling to get the brain ticking over. Here are my attempts so far. What do you think?

Doodle-writing.
It was actually quite difficult to keep
writing without taking the pen off the paper!
Flowers and hearts.
Am very much liking the close ups!
Love the black and white!

Art and Craft day.

This past weekend I spent the day at an art and craft day at nearby Church, St. Nicholas, in Ashchurch, Tewkesbury.  It was a bright day, even if it was rather chilly during the day, and although the footfall was not as good as expected I had some great conversations, especially with cow artist, Sam Morris, who was also exhibiting there.  I was really happy with the look of my stall and we were situated in a lovely garden, with the blossom still on the trees and amongst some lovely grounds. A good day!
Till next time!

Busy! Busy!

Things have been busy round here lately~I have been spending my time making work to sell at the Jazz and Blues Festival at Dean Close School in Cheltenham, which took place on Sunday afternoon. Our stalls were originally outside in the grounds of the school, but due to the extremely windy weather conditions we changed our location and ended up in the Dining Room area, which also gave us a great view of all the musical talents which were performing to the crowd! It was indeed an afternoon full of exceptional talent amongst the pupils of the school!
Needless to say, that this week I have decided to take it a bit slower!

Here's some photos of my stall:

Loving the bunting!
Two of my fave's shown here!
My distressed shelf unit showing my goodies!
Can you see the birdhouses in the basket?

(If you see something you like~please email me for prices and further details)

I am also selling my work at the Arts and Crafts Weekend at St Nicholas church, Ashchurch, Tewkesbury, on the 18th May, so pop along and say hi, if you are in the area!
Hope everyone is enjoying the sunnier weather we are having now~even if it is a bit windy!

Happy Place!

I have been toying with the idea of doing more figurative paintings of late, amongst other ideas, and am so happy with my latest li'le lady! Am loving her hair, especially!

My only problem now is that I don't want to part with her!! Maybe I just need to make lots more so that I can keep some for myself! What do you think?

Exciting news!

Finally, finally, my website has just become live! ! ! Can you believe, it has taken just over a year for me to really gain the confidence to get this huge challenge off the ground! ! ! With the talents of my website designer friend Becky, from Web-Savvy Ltd she has given my ideas the wings needed for a beautiful website of which I am so proud! So come on over and take a look at Angies Heavenly Creations!  :-) I have also been very busy making work, as I have two craft fairs in the next two months so am hoping for some good contacts and lots of networking, and some sales would be a bonus, of course!

Pieces I am working on at the moment.

Hope all of you lovely folk are having a great weekend!
Till next time! Tt4n! X x x

I've finally made the leap!

SO EXCITED!!! I have finally made the leap and put my first painting onto the Craft selling site~'Folksy', under "Angie's Heavenly Creations"!

I have been so nervous about actually taking this step so it is a HUGE thing for me! This is the painting I am selling at the mo, but I also have more that I intend to put in the shop in the very near future. Now I have started the ball rolling, I just need to keep it rolling!

Have a great day!

Feels like spring already!

I've had a lovely morning being creative this morning. I even opened the back door and listened to the birds singing while I painted which was so refreshing! It its amazing how much one can get done while the little one is at nursery, with a bit of motivation! I even managed to hoover the downstairs too, while I was waiting for the paint to dry! Not bad for a morning's work!

Just a shame it ended up raining this afternoon-not so spring like now! Aah well, it was lovely while it lasted!  :-)

So here are the stages of my two journal pages that I started this morning.  Not quite finished, but I like them so far!

stage 1~collage elements
stage 2~adding paint, drippage and bubble wrap texture

 Have a great weekend everyone!

What's new?

Doesn't time fly by! It only seems like yesterday when Christmas was upon us, and now we're nearly a month into the new year! Note to self-really must start blogging more regularly!
Anyway! So I am trying to get more organised this year because by September my youngest will be in school! So I am getting prepared for the time when I will be able to spend more time painting and hopefully selling my work! I am currently attending a business course once a week which has so far been amazing! I have learnt so much and we've only just started the course! So it's all very exciting!

Hope all who read this are well and are having a good 2013 so far!
